Fire Police Officers are your friends, neighbors and family members. We are members of your local fire department. We are trained in traffic control, environmental safety and Pennsylvania motor vehicle law. We are dedicated to keeping emergency personnel and bystanders safe and continuously educate ourselves on safety methods, traffic control techniques and law.
You can find us on scene at residential and commercial fires, vehicle accidents in your community and on the highways, and at parades, public gatherings and other community events. We are deployed by request by fire departments or other public safety organizations, local government agencies, and community organizations for events.
Control traffic flow in and around emergency scenes and public events
Provide compassionate information to the victims of a fire or auto tragedy
Provide a safe area in which first responders can work
Direct and keep safe the media and support services, such as the Red Cross
Keep a hazardous area secure

In 1981, multiple individual VFC fire police departments were heavily deployed during the 80’s tornado breakout. Each department became aware that large scale events and incidents needed a coordinated response. Fire police from Saxonburg, Penn Twp, and Evans City were the founding members of Butler County Fire Police Association, 501(c)(3) to meet this need. To this day, BCFP draws together Fire Police officers from multiple departments to address large incidents and events that require coordination and manpower.
Represented VFCs: Buffalo, Connoquenessing, Cranberry Twp., Adams Area fire district, North Washington, Oakland Twp, Oneida Valley, Penn Twp., Petrolia, Portersville, Prospect, Saxonburg.
Gene began service in 1976 with Connoquenessing VFC and after 25 years transferred to Fire Police Officer. In 2002 he was Coordinator for the Harmony Emergency Management Agency. As President of BCFP since 1991, Gene works tirelessly with County Commissioners and other first responders to promote BCFP. In 2026, Gene was elected as Second Vice President of the Pennsylvania Fire Police Association.
Harold started his fire service in Forestville, New York as a firefighter and Assistant Chief. In 2004 he started service as a Fire Police Officer with Saxonburg VFC and BCFP. He was Fire Police Captain for many years with SVFC. He obtained Fire Police Officer of the Year with BCFP and received a service award from the Saxonburg community.
Linda is the Fire Police Captain for Springfield Township VFD in Mercer County. She has been an active participant in BCFP incidents and events for 3 years. She has served as Secretary, Delegate to the PA State Fire Police Association, Chief Training Officer, Fire Police Officer of the Year and member of the Western PA CERT Team.
Susan operated her own software business for 30 years overseeing customer liaison, quality assurance, human resources, accounting and payroll. She has been and is a member of canine search teams for over 25 years. She has one active and certified trailing dog and is ready to certify her third. dog.
We welcome new members who want to be a valuable resource to protect firefighters, EMTs, media staff, victims, and the public, have a desire to help fellow citizens and are inspired to serve your community in times of need and disaster.
